How do I care for my Salad Bowl Planter™?

Where Do I Put My Salad Bowl Planter™?

An ideal location for a container of all greens would be a bright, sunny area, with some shade in the heat of the day during the hot, summer months. This helps prevent some of the greens from bolting, or going to seed.

When temperature are cooler in spring and fall, move into brighter light.

Keep the planter just outside your back door. If it is convenient, you will use it more frequently.

Put the planter on a table near the house (or kitchen door) to prevent browsing from bunnies and deer.

How Do You Maintain a Salad Bowl Planter™?

Keep plants well watered.

Feed every 2 to 3 weeks using our Organic Salad Bowl Planter Food™, a special blend that is super rich in trace minerals and beneficial microbes that produce growth hormones and even antibiotics for plants. This maximizes the nutritional benefits of the salad greens and makes plants healthier.

How Do I Harvest my Salad Bowl Planter™?

Pick outer, larger lettuce leaves and new leaves continue to grow from the inside out.

Plants convert sunlight to carbohydrate energy via photosynthesis, and grow at a speed based on their leaf surface area. Pick leaves as they overlap each other but for maximum production do not over pick

Green onions and chives can be cut down as desired to about 2-4 inches and they will re-grow in about 10 to 14 days.

Salad Bowl Planters™ Are Very Frost Hardy!

Most greens are hardy to 18 - 22 degrees and will continue to produce, and look good, into December.

When temperatures near 25ºF (although some greens are hardier), bring the containers inside and continue to harvest for weeks, or even months longer.

Ideal winter location is a cool sun room, or bright, unheated porch. With enough light you can continue to harvest all winter. Leave containers outside until after at least a couple hard frosts to reduce the possibility of bringing insect pests inside.
